Ministries at FUMC
At Fairview United Methodist Church we offer a variety of opportunities for small groups to come together and draw closer to each other and to God! We also have a church library with an abundance of materials for spiritual growth and leisure reading (see media services at bottom of page).
Worship & Music:
Bell Choir - a mixed choir of adults and youth, lead by Brenda Widger (email@example.com). Bell Choir meets on Wednesday evenings at 6pm for approximately 1 hour. Reading music is helpful, but not required. The Bell Choir rings approximately once per month during the 11:00 worship service from September through May.
"HIS Choir" - an adult chancel choir lead by Joan Wohlgemuth, offering inspiring anthems and uplifting spirituals for our 11:00am traditional service. Practices are held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm. HIS Choir sings on various Sundays from September through May.
Praise Team - we have a number of people who bring their gifts to the praise team who lead our IGNITE worship service at 8:30 on Sundays. Each week we try to feature different musicians and vocalists. This group practices on different days & times, according to the availability of the participants for that Sunday. If you would like to join us, please contact Brenda Widger (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Drama Team - Adults, youth and children all participate in our drama ministry at worship and for special services and programs. The youth have also performed multiple dramas as part of our "Stick Ministry". The sketches can be comedic or serious in nature, but are all designed and incorporated into the services to provide a deeper connection in times of worship!
Children's Choir - at various times throughout the year we gather our children together to provide special music for Sunday worship or at special services. The children offer songs of praise and play tone bells as part of our traditional worship service.
United Methodist Women:
Our United Methodist Women holds quarterly meetings to plan and promote activities and events to support the church and its missions. There is also a sub-group called the Mary Martha Circle, which usually meets once a month for Bible Study, fellowship and discussion. If you're interested, please contact the church office.
Our church has several small groups that meet weekly or monthly, depending on what works best for the members. These groups gather to pray for and support one another through our walks of faith. If you're interested in joining a small group, please contact the church office at (814) 474-3612.
There are books and video tapes available for use from the church library, located on the lower level of our church building. There are many different titles, including children's literature and videos. Additionally, our worship services are recorded and are available upon request.
